Bigjigs Toys is an English brand whose origins can be traced back to 1985 in the county of Kent, England. The brand was founded by Peter Ireland, who created wooden toys in his spare time in his garage. Initially these were items for his own use, but over time more and more friends and acquaintances asked to create customized toys.
Peter Ireland and his wife were teachers by profession. So they were well aware of the importance of providing children with tools that have a positive impact on their development and education. In time, the couple decided to devote themselves entirely to toy production and established the Bigjigs Toys brand. When production took off in earnest, puzzles made from floorboards were turned into toys made of high-quality wood. In the early 1990s, the first mail-order catalog appeared - Bigjigs Toys' unique children's toys went off into the world! Day by day, interest in the products was growing, and the company's growth could be seen with the naked eye.
Today Bigjigs is a very large company, whose products are known almost all over the world. Despite its rise in popularity, it remains a family business. Liz and Peter are involved in the production of the toys and are involved in both the design and packaging. The company is also headed by the couple's two sons. The most faithful testers of subsequent designs, however, are the grandchildren, Arthur and Edith. Bigjibs Toys conducts both B2B and B2C sales. In 2018, Tidlo joined the Bigjigs Toys family.
The goal of the Bigjigs Toys brand is to provide little ones with high-quality, safe products that support children's development through play and learning. The toys are sourced responsibly, respecting the environment.
The company places great emphasis on ethical production. Wood is sourced only from verified locations that meet a range of environmental criteria. Confirmation that the materials come from responsibly managed forests and meet sustainable forestry standards is the FSC® C147826 certification.
To ensure the highest level of safety for little ones, the toys undergo rigorous testing. The tests take place in independent laboratories and are designed to confirm that Bigjigs Toys meet the required standards both in the UK and throughout Europe and North America. During the tests, the durability of the items is tested in particular, and their chemical composition is also examined in detail. The company is well aware that most toys come into contact with a child's mouth. The paints and varnishes used in our production do not pose any danger to the little ones.
Bigjigs Toys products are designed at the company's headquarters in Folkestone. The creative team in charge ensures that each product supports children's key skills according to their age. Bigjigs Toys help children learn to recognize numbers, colors or letters. In addition, they also support gross motor skills and manual dexterity.
